Using one of Helen’s simple Flower Power designs, students will use Helen’s supplies to paint on fabric to create an 8” block. Students will gain insightful instruction from Helen’s 40 year experience in painting on fabric. Helen will cover what fabric is best to use, how much water to apply, how to control the movement of colour, how to use the brush strokes and how to create interesting texture and blends. Students will complete an 8” painted block and be armed with knowledge and skills to paint into your future projects.
Helen’s sessions are offered in 4 different mediums. Each session focuses on just one of the mediums.
Options are – Inktense Pencils, Caran D’Ache water soluble crayons, Lumiere metallic fabric paint or Sun Dyes.
Class supplies include base fabric, choice of Flower Power designs, brushes, fabric markers for tracing and all the paint and pencils, crayons or dyes required. Students get to take home their finished block ready to quilt. This could be the start of your new direction, painting fabric for your next quilt project.
