A Wonderful weekend of craft proudly presented by Craftalive.
Enjoy a full weekend craft workshop learning new techniques or exploring something new. Five exciting workshops to choose from with experienced tutors.  These are exclusive & popular workshops with only limited places available to ensure you receive the highest level of tuition & personalised attention.  Early booking is advised. 

Package includes full accommodation & catering at the beautiful Lake Hume Resort overlooking Lake Hume. Packages also available without accommodation to cater for those who live in the Albury/Wodonga area. Come alone or with a group either way you will be looked after and enjoy a great weekend.

Bear Making Workshop- Presented by Tracy Morton of Swan Hill Bear Company

“Matilda”
One of our most popular workshops. Matilda is a large dressed bear made from German Mohair with a calico body.  Kit comes pre – sewn so that Matilda can be finished easily in the two day workshop.  Even though a lot of preparation has been done, the basics of bear making will still be covered in this workshop including, stitching, stuffing, setting eyes, embroidering nose, positioning ears, and adding character.  A full pattern for bear and clothing is included in kit.  Clothing for the workshop is readymade and outfit includes Dress embellished with old doilys and lace, bloomers, shawl & necklace made from vintage pearls or beads.  Matilda can be made from thick, curly mohair or sparse mohair.  Mohair colour and finish will depend upon availability at time of booking workshop.  Workshop includes all materials, full pattern and instruction & tuition.  Participants only need to bring a pair of scissors.

Patchwork workshop – Presented by Robbie Stockfeld

Machine Piecing class – “Exploring the Stars”
This exciting workshop will enable you to make a quilt with infinite variations – a choice of block designs and a choice of “looks”! You will be able to take a traditional approach or create something funky depending on your choice of fabrics. Workshop includes patterns, template sets and other sundry bits & bobs. You will be required to supply own fabric in the quantities given in the class requirements list that will be available on booking. Students will be required to bring own sewing machine but sewing machines can be provided upon request.

Folk Art workshop – Presented by Christine Kelly

“Painting Blossoms & Bears”
For this workshop, students will have a choice of 2 projects.  The first project is a very beautifully dressed teddy bear and the 2nd is a gorgeous vase of mixed flowers including roses that can be painted in various ways to suit the ability of the student.  The pieces for both projects will be provided and base coated ready for painting.  Class size is limited to 8 students to ensure maximum interaction and will be suitable for intermediate to advanced painters. Students will be required to supply own paints & brushes.

Punchneedle Embroidery – Presented by Pamela Gurney

“From Dot to Daisies ”
A large variety of threads and textures and many different techniques are used to complete this very pretty embroidery.  Choose from shades of pink or mauve. Punchneedles and a hoop will be lent for the workshop (not included in kit cost) everything else you will need is included in the workshop including a variety of threads of different textures, ribbon, fabric & a circular mount board.

Glass Bead workshop – Presented by Elizabeth-Anne Connell

“ I Made Those Glass Beads”
This is the one-stop class where you can actually make your own Glass Beads using different torches & different types of glass! In this class students will learn about safety, different fuels, equipment, tools, different types of glass and of course how to actually make a variety of glass beads.  From a basic round bead to a cylinder, grooved, multicoloured and cased all this will be covered.  Pinching, poking, snipping and plunging will also be practised, as well as adding metals and surface treatment.  Fancy miniature Vessels, vases and jugs will also be attempted in this class as well as glass button production.  Finally the topic of annealing will be discussed & practised as well as etching of Glass Beads. 

Workshop includes full usage of studio equipment& tools, choice of different glass rods, access to film & notes and of course advice on presentation of your Glass Bead Masterpieces.

           

Accommodation

Nestled amongst 21 hectares of magnificent parkland on the shores of Lake Hume you will be staying in cottage style accommodation. Each cottage has a separate bathroom and toilet facility, living area and self contained kitchen and dining room. Bush walks surrounding the resort include the Hume Dam, Murray River & Lake Hume.
